Thomas J. Edwards of Buford formerly of Atlanta and St. Simons Island passed away April 5, 2014 under the care of Northeast Georgia Hospice. He was the son of the late Thomas J. Edwards, Sr. and Irene Ferguson Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a proud veteran of WWII having flown many missions in a B-17 Bomber attached to the 388 Bomber Group, 562nd Squadron. After the war he came home to Atlanta and later joined his father's business, Edwards City Paint (later called Atlanta Paint Company) that was on 14th street in Atlanta. He lost he beloved wife of 64 years, Lorraine Maret Edwards in 2006. He is survived by his devoted children and grandchildren; son, Mark V. Edwards of Dahlonega, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ken Courtenay of Flowery Branch, grandsons; Casey Courtenay and wife Brooke and Chris Courtenay, of Lawrenceville. Funeral Services will be held Thursday April 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Larry Burgess officiating a private interment will follow at Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at A.S. Turner and Sons. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice, 2150 Limestone Pkwy, Ste 222, Gainesville, GA 30501
