Thomas William Moore

Mr. Thomas W. Moore passed quietly on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the age of 102. Mr. Moore attended Tech High in Atlanta and went on to receive his electrical engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 1930. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army after graduation. After World War II he perused a career in finance. He was an active member of Grace Methodist Church in Atlanta and served on the Board of Stewards. He was married to Emily Gann Moore for 43 years. Later after Emily Moore's death Mr. Moore married Mary Pond Fortson. They were married for 34 years until his death. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Mary, a son, Michael D. Moore of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, daughter, Janet M. Nelson of Riverton, WY, daughters-in- law, Jackie P. Moore and Carol J. Moore, a son-in- law, Gerald Nelson, a granddaughter, Bonnie M. Taliaferro and great grandson, Connor Lee Taliaferro . There will be a service on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at A.S. Turner & Sons in Decatur, GA at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend James Sanders will officiate the service.
