Virginia Lee Johnson

July 12, 1924 — March 20, 2012

Mrs. Virginia Lee Johnson of Atlanta passed away March 20, 2012 at her residence. Born in 1924, she was the daughter of the late Winnie Mae Tuggle Blankenship and Hubert Blankenship of Illinois. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Monroe Johnson. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Randy and Penny Johnson of North Carolina. Virginia was an active and lifelong member of the Briarcliff Baptist Church. She was very active in the American Hemerocallis Society, where she registered many of her hybrid daylily cultivars. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, March 24, 2012 from the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons. Interment will follow in the Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Virginia Lee Johnson to Briarcliff Baptist Church, 3039 Briarcliff Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
