Virginia Louise Brugh Judy

November 28, 1920 — May 5, 2012

On May 4, Virginia Louise Brugh Judy, of Avondale Estates, died at the age of 91. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a cherished friend. Virginia was born on November 28, 1920, in Harlan, Kentucky, to Julian and Aubry (Wheeler) Brugh. She grew up in Buena Vista, VA, where she graduated from Parry McCluer High School and attended Southern Seminary and Women's College nearby Lynchburg. During WWII, Virginia moved with her parents to Oak Ridge, TN. There she met her husband, of 66 years, Richard Kader Judy, Jr. on May 4, 1946. Dick and Ginger moved to Atlanta in 1952, eventually settling in Avondale Estates to raise their family. They joined and became active members of Columbia Drive Baptist Church in Decatur. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren who adored their "Gin Gin". She enjoyed her involvement with the Avondale Estates Garden Club. Virginia is survived by her two children, Kay Judy Connelly and husband Donald C. Connelly of Avondale Estates and Richard Kader Judy III and wife Patricia Morris Judy of Roswell; her grandchildren Jennifer Connelly Petty and husband Mike of Springfield, MO, Christopher O'Neal Connelly and wife Angela of Roswell, Daniel Morris Judy of Alexandria, VA, and Laura Katherine Judy of Atlanta; and great-grandchildren Matthew and Julian Petty and Mary Madeline Connelly. She is also survived by her brother James H. Brugh (Oleta) of Murphy, NC and sister-in-law Frances R. Brugh of Atlanta. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack and in 1983, her husband Richard. Virginia's family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 7, prior to the 2:00 pm service, which will be held at A.S. Turner & Sons. There will be a private burial service at Melwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, our family requests donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, Inc. A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
