Wallace "Bill" Leigh Harris Jr.

Bill Harris was born in Cochran Georgia to Wallace Leigh Harris, Sr. and Virginia Speer Harris. He was a graduate of Mercer University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Mercer Bears basketball team. He also attended John Marshall Law School. He was an Army veteran and was employed at General Motors, Citizens & Southern Bank, and Emory University. Afterwards, he enjoyed many years of retirement, was an avid tennis player, and a regular at the Decatur YMCA. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Wood Harris, daughter Sally, granddaughter Cameron, grandson Jackson, brother John, sister Virginia Howard, and many nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his sister Lola Ellis. Per Bill’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 930188, Norcross, GA 30003.
