William Golden Blasingame, Jr.

William G. (“Bucky”) Blasingame, Jr. of Decatur passed away on Monday, September 25, 2018. He was born November 3, 1926 in Walton Co., GA, one of 3 children born to the late Willam G. (“Buck”) Blasingame, Sr. and the late Zora Barrett Blasingame.Bill attended high school in Walton Co. and spent some time at the University of Georgia before moving to Atlanta to seek his fortune. He found a job at The AJC, where he worked until 1952 before being inducted into the Army. He served overseas during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged a sergeant with three bronze stars. Upon returning to civilian life, he resumed his career in advertising at The Atlanta Journal.He was an avid fisherman and gardener who, upon retirement, enjoyed traveling with his wife the late Anne Dale Blasingame.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Josiah Blasingame, sister Elizabeth Herdon, beloved wife Anne Dale Blasingame, and daughter Luann Blasingame.Bill is suvived by his son William Dale Blasingame, his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Rae Hoffman, and his granddaughter Emma Katherine Blasingame.
