William Hixson Breen, Iii

April 7, 1949 — June 1, 2022


William (Uncle Tony) Hixson Breen lll passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2022.  Bill was born in Atlanta in 1949 and was a lifetime Decatur resident.  He attended Winnona Park Elementary School, and graduated from Decatur High School in 1967.  He also attended Georgia Tech and Southern Tech.  After college he joined the Marine Corps Reserves where he served in the infantry.  After his military service he worked for Georgia Duct and Cordage Mill in Scottsdale, Ga. for 18 years in Atlanta and Kansas City. He returned to Atlanta in 1990 and worked in the cleaning and sanitation chemical business as a salesman. First for ABC Compounding Co. and finally for Betco Corp out of Toledo, Ohio.  He retired from Betco in 2016.  Bill was a lifetime member of Decatur Presbyterian Church.


He is preceded in death by his mother the late Bettye Bond Matthews Breen and is survived by his father William Breen, Jr., sisters Anna (Doug) Armistead and Bonnie (Frank) Creighton, and his brother Alan Breen. He was fondly known to his nieces and nephews (Doug, Will, Ben, Pete, Emily, AnnaBond, Wren, and Brooks) affectionately as Uncle Tony.


He will be greatly missed.  A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 2:00PM at Decatur Presbyterian Church.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to American Parkinson Disease, Georgia Chapter, P.O. Box 2287, Loganville, GA 30052 in memory of Bill Breen.
