William Quincy Culpepper

May 25, 1924 — September 1, 2007

William Quincy Culpepper passed away on Sept. 1. A proud resident of Atlanta, he was born in Cordele, GA. May 25. 1924. He was the son of Mamie Hill and William Chadwell Culpepper. Quincy is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Ann Starr Culpepper; a daughter, Carol and husband John Reeves of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Marcia Lynch of Suffolk, VA; a son, Mike and wife Susan Culpepper of Dallas, GA; and grandchildren John Reeves III, Andrea Vandervort, Anna Jones, Agatha Lynch, Jessica Culpepper, and Will Culpepper. Quincy graduated from the University of Georgia School of Business in 1950 and has been a spirited Bulldog fan ever since, encouraging family and friends in support of his UGA passion. He was a member of ??? fraternity. His military experience was with the U.S. Naval Air Corp during WWII. Quincy enjoyed 36 years of federal service including serving as Regional Director of Business Affairs for the General Services Administration. He was instrumental in establishing the Atlanta Federal Information Center in 1966. He was a long-time member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and was active in the Faith Sunday School class. Quincy was loved and respected by all of his family. All who knew him regarded him as an outstanding gentleman in the finest southern tradition. Memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Fund Scholarship, Office of Development, UGA, Athens, GA 30602-5582 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends on Wed., Sept. 5 at 10:00 am prior to the service at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur. Service time is 11:00 am in the Chapel. A graveside service will be at 5:00 Wednesday afternoon at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, GA.
