Wilma Frances Burgess

Wilma Frances Backstrom Burgess, age 87, of Decatur died Sunday, March 11, 2007. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women and a faithful member of Druid Hills Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mrs. Burgess was past president of the Georgia Baptist Children's Home Board of Directors. She was an accomplished water color artist who inspired her daughters to paint. She was a loving wife and mother, one of a kind and a delight to be with. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nell Beard; and brother, Jack Backstrom. She is survived by her husband, C. Steadman Burgess, Jr.; daughters, Carol Burgess, Decatur; Anne McClearn and her husband, Mike, of Lilburn; sister, Katherine Healy, Nancy Buchanan, Bonny Bruce, Olive Dollar, Marjorie Richardson; brother, William Forrest Backstrom, Jr.; and grandchildren, Natalie McClearn and Kevin McClearn. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 14th at 1 p.m. at Druid Hills Baptist Church, Rev. Jonathan Spencer officiating.
