Aldine Louise Russ

April 12, 1922 — February 14, 2016

Jesus came to take Aldine Louise Russ 93 of Decatur, GA home to be with him in Glory, on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2016. She fell asleep peacefully in Jesus's arms at Hospice Atlanta from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Aldine Louise Boesinger was born on April 12, 1922 in Manhatten, NY, to Gustave and Emily (Hagar) Boesinger. She had an older brother Julien Otis Boesinger (Boes). She was born, raised and lived until the 40's in Forest Hills, NY with many close family members and relatives surrounding and nurturing her. Her grammar school and high school years were there while she attended the Church in the Gardens and learned to lean on and to love Jesus. She graduated in 1943 from Adelphi College in Garden City, NY. She was part of the Tri Delta Sorority in College where she was part of a sisterhood to broaden the moral and intellectual life. She had many good memories of family and growing up in Forest Hills. One of her favorite memory of NY she shared about was taking the subway and then the train to college each day. Her family never owned a car while in NY. Another memory was Christmas gatherings with the whole family.
After college Aldine attended Kathryn Gibs Business School to become a secretary. Upon completion, she worked in an Architect firm where she met Charles William Russ. They were married in 1947 at the Church in the Gardens, Forest Hills, NY.
They moved to Atlanta, GA in 1949 were Charles took a job as an architect. She loved Atlanta for the trees. She would tell how she was able to learn to drive in Atlanta and also she was able to have a dog for the first time there. She loved having dogs and had many throughout her life which she loved each one of them dearly. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader and gardener. In 1954, Charles designed and built a house for them on McConnell Dr., where she lived until 2010, building and sharing many wonderful memories. Charles had built a separate little house for his father to live there on site with them. In 1958, they were blessed with a son Robern William Russ. Charles pasted away in 1961, leaving Aldine not only a widow but also a single mother who now had to support herself, their son and her father in-law by herself. Her Parents moved down to GA from NY around this time. Aldine went back to work as an Executive secretary for Taylor Instruments until the middle of the 1980's. During those years, Aldine raised her son, while taking care of many ageing family members. She always opened her house and many times to anyone who needed a place to live. Aldine had the heart of Jesus in always helping people out. Charles and Aldine joined Clairmont Presbyterian Church in 1958. Throughout her life she attended, served and was very involved in the church. Aldine was in the choir, bell choir, a deacon, volunteered in any area she was needed and served on many committees. She served at membership secretary for many years and after she retired she worked at the front office of the church. Even today people who are part of the church remember her answering the phone. Aldine was an amazing woman of God. She loved to travel and began traveling very young with her family. One of her favorite trips was to England with the church choir.
In 2010 Aldine moved from her beloved house to Clairmont Crest Apartments. Then in 2011 she moved to Atria Senior living in Buckhead. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the skilled and loving caregivers at Atria Buckhead.
She will be missed by all that knew her. One of her saying was "be nice to people and they'll be nice to you." Aldine was a very special woman who was sweet and had a positive personality with a lot of energy. She was humble, smart, generous, hardworking, kind, loving, charming and witty. Aldine loved the Lord our God with all her heart. Her best quality was she accepted the gift of grace from Jesus of free salvation for eternity. Well done good and faithful servant.
Aldine is survived by her loving son, Robern Russ (Tina L.C.); three beautiful granddaughters, Kathryn S. M., Holly Ann B, Autumn S. E. ; Two nieces, Emily Holloway and family and Margaret Sjoberg and family. She was preceded in death by spouse, Charles William Russ, father, Gustave Nathaniel Boesinger, mother, Emily Clara Boesinger, brother, Julien Otis Boesinger (Boes).
