Listen to Obituary

Alexandra Abdul-massih Barbar was born in Antioch, Syria on April 1st, 1936. When she was still a child, the family moved to Aleppo, Syria to escape political turmoil. That's where she earned her degree in education.

She helped her parents raise her younger siblings and spent most of her life teaching elementary school, where principal after principal would request that she work for them. After she retired, she moved with her brother and sister to the US to, again, escape political turmoil. There she was reunited with another brother, her nephew, and their families, living the rest of her life in peace with her family.

Known for her kind and caring nature, she always asked after others and helped them as much as she could her entire life. And as much as she loved others, she was loved by her community and her siblings, George, Foad, Angel, Samir, Souheil, and Samira, as well as their families.

On April 23rd, 2026, she passed away at the age of 90. She leaves behind the love and lessons she gave to her students and to her family.

Alexandra was so gentle, and full of compassion, always thinking of others and taking care of them. She will be missed and loved, always.

Funeral services to honor Alexandra's life will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 28th at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alexandra's memory to St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church.
