Amy Louise Engel, age 56, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on October 14, 2023. Amy was born in Gainesville, FL, on August 3, 1967. She attended Germantown High School in Memphis, TN, and graduated from The University of Memphis with a degree in Business.
Amy was a devout dog lover and had several rescue dogs throughout her life. Her most recent dog, Whiskey, was her pride and joy and passed away earlier this year. In addition to her pets, Amy was extremely passionate about sports, all things pop culture, and attending live music.
Amy had a successful career in sports and television news beginning her career at ESPN before moving to NBC and working the last 23 years at CNN most recently serving as Senior Coordinating Producer prior to filling the key role of Supervising Producer.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Beverly Engel. She is survived by her three sisters: Jan (Pete) Futris, Susan Engel, and Holly (Rick) Walters, along with countless friends and loved ones.
For local Atlanta friends and co-workers, a visitation and memorial service will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Rd., Decatur, GA, on October 18th, 2023 from 4-7 PM with brief comments at 6:00 PM. Amy will be buried in Memphis, TN, with a visitation scheduled at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, on October 23rd, 2023 from 11 AM-1:00 PM with brief comments at 12:00 PM and the internment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Atlanta Humane Society (atlantahumane.org).
