Anita Carolyn Rich

Anita Carolyn Rich, born January 19th 1942 died peacefully Sunday morning, October 1 st 2023.

Born and raised in Gainesville Georgia, Carolyn wanted to live a life of service to others. She graduated from Georgia Baptist Nursing School in 1964 and began her career as a nurse at Emory hospital in Atlanta Georgia. As Carolyn continued her career in nursing she later became the Director of Nursing at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta. After many years she decided to focus on senior care and opened a nursing home in Hapeville Georgia, which she owned and operated until retiring. Carolyn was a patron of the arts and loved music. She was also very active in her community, serving as a member of the Druid Hills Civitan Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United daughters of the Confederacy. She was also very active in her church and with her ladies Bible study group.


Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Walter Vance Rich and Clara Elvira Wallace Rich, and her brothers, George W. Rich and Robert L. Rich. She is survived by beloved family and friends.


Services for Carolyn will be held on Saturday October 7th at 1 0:30 AM in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Decatur. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist church of Decatur, Clairmont Oaks, The Atlanta Music Club and the ProMozart Society of Atlanta.
