Ann Neal Harrell,98, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ann was truly a Southern belle whose warmth, grace, faith, and kindness touched all who knew her.
Born in Atlanta on September 24, 1927, Ann was the youngest of three daughters born to Wallace and Lula Neal. She grew up in the historic Inman Park neighborhood and graduated from Atlanta Girls High School. As a young woman, she worked in the Credit Department at Rich's Department Store downtown, where she fondly enjoyed riding the streetcar to work each day and being part of one of Atlanta's most beloved landmarks.
Ann later met and married the love of her life, James Harrell, also a native Atlantan. Together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, and community. After the birth of their two daughters, Ann devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a full-time mother and homemaker, creating a loving and welcoming home for her family.
Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she remained active in church throughout the years. Known for her servant's heart and generous spirit, Ann dedicated herself to helping others through volunteer work. After her daughters were grown, she began a remarkable 30-year volunteer career with the DeKalb Medical Center Imaging Center, where her compassion and friendly presence brought comfort to countless patients and staff members alike.
Ann is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her enduring love, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
She will be remembered for her elegance, strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and grace will live on in the many lives she touched.
A funeral service celebrating Ann's life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, Georgia.
