Ann Brake Marney, age 86, passed away on April 30, 2024.
Ann was born in Macon, GA to James Brake and Argress Sammons Brake. Ann was married Philip Marney in October of 1969. They lived in Decatur, GA,
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Marney, her parents James Brake and Argress Sammons Brake and her sister, Betty O'Connor.
Ann was an alumna of Lagrange College and Emory University. She was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church and spent her life in service to the Methodist Church. She worked professionally as the director of senior activities at Phillips Towers and Briarcliff Oaks, and as a staff member for many years at Peachtree Road Methodist Church.
Ann was a good friend of Libby Harris, wife of governor Joe Frank Harris, and often gave "back door tours" of the governor's mansion.
She was known for her quick wit, unmatched organizational skills and a fantastic pound cake.
She is survived by her niece, Kimberly O'Connor of Austin, TX and nephews Trey O'Connor of Creed, CO, Tommy Marney of Lawrenceville, GA, David Marney of Kalispell, MT and Scott Marney of Grayson, GA.
Services for Ann Marney will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 11:00 am at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Morgan officiating.
Visitation will follow the service in the Grand Hall of the church. Her ashes will be interred in the Oak Grove Cemetery at 10:15 am, for those wishing to attend.
