Anthony (Tony) Joseph Ippolito, an Atlanta resident since 1959 - but lifelong New Yorker - died on November 27, 2022, at Emory St. Joseph’s hospital, after a short illness.
The son of Sicilian immigrants, Tony was born in Manhattan on March 12, 1937. He attended Xavier high school before heading south to attend Georgia Tech and ultimately graduating from the University of Georgia in 1959.
He worked in the advertising and music businesses in Atlanta, beginning his career in the advertising department for Rich’s Department Store. He loved rock and roll and jazz, fast cars, travel, a good medium rare steak, and chocolate. He was an inaugural season ticket holder for the Atlanta Falcons, and a fan of the New York Rangers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Most of all, he loved life, and treasured time spent with family and friends.
Tony is survived by three daughters he was so very proud of, Amanda Ippolito, Angela Ippolito, and Darcy McLean, all in the Atlanta area; his compagne, Susan Pottle; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. They will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Tony on Sunday, February 12th, 2023 at Eddie's Attic located at 515 N McDonough St, Decatur Georgia 30030 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
