B. J. (Beverly James) Autrey

B. J. (Beverly James) Autrey, 83, of Avondale Estates, GA, passed away on June 15, 2012 from lung cancer. He was born on June 12, 1929 in Atlanta, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Nell Hill of 53 years, his parents, Leonard and Florence Autrey, and his dog, "Lady". He worked at Gulf Overall and retired from Atlanta Motor Lines. He was a Mason at the Glenwood Hills Lodge #703, a member of the SCV, and Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church. He loved to talk to people, go to yard sales, play bingo, and watching old westerns. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn and Ron Adair of Decatur; his sons, Philip Autrey of Atlanta, Randy Autrey of Dahlonega, Travis and Beth Autrey of Duluth; grandchildren, Russell Autrey of Dawsonville, Spencer Adair of Decatur, Emily and Rick Adair Hanberry of State College, PA, Keith Autrey of Duluth, Bruce Autrey of Duluth; great granddaughter, Addison Autrey of Dawsonville; sister, Wileen Slade of Conyers; his friend, Sandy Speighner of Avondale Estates, and his beloved dog, Princess. B. J. loved life. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18th at 10:00 am in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Interment, Westview Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial donations may be sent to Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
