Barbara Lee Fountain of Atlanta passed away on December 17, 2025 at the age of 93. Barbara grew up in Dallas, Texas and moved to Atlanta where she met and marrried Carlton Pierce Fountain who was attending Georgia Tech. They were married for 48 years. Barbara's gifts were many but she was without question a loving wife and mother of three, a grandmother of six, a great-grandmother of three and a friend to many.
Barbara was an amazing artist. She began her art education at the Art Institute of Atlanta and continued her studies for many years with many local and nationally known artists. She stated that painting contributes to the art of living and gives unlimited joy. Barbara was a member of the Atlanta Artists Center and a Member of Excellence of the Southeastern Pastel Society. Her paintings were featured in several galleries in Georgia, North Carolina and Florida. She also began a business with friends named Something Else producing greeting cards, wrapping paper, playing cards etc.
Barbara loved playing bridge and gardening, and she was a member of Sunday school classes at Oak Grove United Methodist Church since the 1960's. She is survived by her children, Mark Fountain of Phoenix, AZ, Linn Spieth of Cumming,GA, Dawn Fountain of Flowery Branch, GA, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Atlanta Humane Society or the Oak Grove Carillon Replacement Fund (ogumc.org/donate).
