Bernice Sherrill "Sherry" Hatcher of Tucker GA, age 81, passed away on May 25, 2025, due to complications following a stroke.
She was preceded in death by father Charles Graham Hatcher, Mother Nelle Hatcher, brother Charles Hatcher, and sister Becky Hardison.
She is survived by husband Jerry Green; sons Graham Brett (Susie) and Tony Brett (Diann); grandchildren Hailey Brett, Gregory Brett, Rachel Brett and Tyler Brett.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, 29th of May 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Decatur GA.
Services for Ms. Hatcher will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons. A reception will immediately follow the services.
The burial will follow on Friday at Bartow City Cemetery in Bartow, GA.
Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers in Sherry's name to Embry Hills United Methodist Church in Atlanta GA.

Sherry Hatcher was born in Columbia, SC to Charles and Nell Hatcher. Her family moved to Atlanta when she was in middle school. After graduating from Druid Hills High School in 1961, she attended Georgia State University, where she completed her Bachelor's degree in History. She began her teaching career at Druid Hills High School in 1967 where she taught World History, served as student advisor to the Student Council, and assisted with plays, productions, and clubs for 30 years. After her high school teaching retirement in 1997, DHHS created a perpetual award in her honor at the school, called the Sherry Hatcher Social Studies Book Award. While still teaching at Druid Hills, she completed her Master's Degree in Education at Georgia State, subsequently joining the faculty of Georgia State's College of Education after retiring from DHHS. During her time at GSU, she taught and mentored new teachers as they finished their teaching degrees. Upon retirement from Georgia State, she continued to teach ESOL classes Embry Hills United Methodist Church, where she was an active member.
She married Jerry Green in 1994 in Charleston, SC. She spent her retirement doting on her grandchildren, coordinating family beach trips to South Carolina, gardening, family genealogy research, and being active in her church. She was a compassionate, caring mother, grandmother, spouse, and served as an example of a life well lived. She was greatly loved and will be immensely missed.
