Byron H. Palmer (B.H.), age 86, of Decatur died Wednesday, February 16, 2005. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1942 and was a licensed professional engineer with Atlantic Steel Company for over 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Corps of Engineers in Korea. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Margaret (Held); daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Harold Popham; grandsons and wives; Allen Thomas and Colleen McKimpson, Keith and Amy Thomas, Michael and Pamela Popham, Rick Popham; great grandchildren, Savannah and London Thomas, Ross and Devan Thomas, Nicholas and Benjamin Popham; sisters-in-law, Nina Ruth Davis, Katherine Palmer; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a very special man - a man of high morals, values and integrity. The priorities in his life were God and family. He gave unselfishly of himself and was a man, husband, dad, granddaddy and great granddaddy you knew you could count on. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 12 Noon Saturday, February 19th with Rev. Nath Briley officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Decatur Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
