Carl Voegtlin II (1949 - 2026)
Carl passed away peacefully on the afternoon of February 28. An Atlanta native and long-time resident, he graduated from W. F. Dykes High School in 1967. He was pleased to continue his education at the University of Georgia, and Athens was a special memory for him all his life. On graduation day in 1971 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force, and two weeks later he married Becky.
After having proudly served his country, he returned to civilian life in Atlanta in 1974. The bulk of his career was spent at Control Southern Inc. where he was invaluable in many roles.
In retiremennt Carl's wish was to do a kindness for anyone he could. On his passing, someone described him as a "kind and wonderful neighbor" for his ongoing willingness to help all his neighbors in any way he could.
He is survived by Becky, his wife of 54 years, and his beloved daughter Emily. In lieu of a service, they will scatter his ashes on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, a place he held dear from his early days in the Air Force. Any memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
