Carlene Jones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Carlene Jones, who departed this life peacefully on December 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on September 14, 1944, in Dublin, Georgia to Levannah and Carl Copeland.

Carlene was a hairstylist for many years and was also a small business owner for over 30 years. After obtaining her GED as an adult, she went on to take college courses, earning her certification as an Information Processing Specialist. Carlene's greatest joys were found in reading, playing word games on her kindle, shopping, playing dominoes, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. For the past 12 years she was very involved with her church, Rehoboth Baptist. She rededicated her life to Christ in 2015, and we had the privilege of watching her get baptized. She gave her time volunteering with VBS, the food pantry, Wednesday night dinners, funeral receptions, and holiday events. If you could not find her at home, the first place to check was the church. Her ability to make others feel seen, heard, and cared for was a gift to all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Peters (Hal) and Jackie Shepherd (Barry). She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Ashley Shepherd, Kyle Shepherd (Pam), Curtis Shepherd (Karen), Brooke Peters (Sam), and Andy Peters (Katie). She has nine great grandchildren with her tenth on the way; she also has two great great grandchildren. She leaves behind many other family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Richard Jones.

Visitation will be held at A.S. Turner's funeral home in Decatur, Georgia on Friday December 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday December 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Her service will be on Saturday, December 27th at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bobby Sena officiating.
