Listen to Obituary

Carolyn S. Cartledge passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning with her beloved daughter, Tracy by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 58 years, Dr. Densford H. Cartledge, and her son, Densford H. Cartledge, Jr.

Carolyn was a kind and gentle woman with a generous spirit. Her life was rooted in her deep love for her family and faith. She traveled all over the world with friends and her late husband. For 35 years, she shared her caring nature as a dental hygienist alongside her husband in their dental practice, bringing a gentle and warm patience to all their patients.

Carolyn was an accomplished tennis player into her sixties. She also found joy in cooking for family tending her beautiful flowers and garden. Her commitment to giving back extended over two decades through her volunteer work with the Dekalb Medical Auxiliary, where she volunteered in the Emergency Department and Out-Patient Surgery. She founded the Med Share program at Dekalb Medical, leaving an enduring legacy of her compassionate nature. She was a long-time member of the Oak Gove Methodist church.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy A. Cartledge of Avondale Estates, her daughter-in-law, Andrea Cartledge of Conyers, GA, her grandson, Allan D. Cartledge and his wife Allison, with two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews from Georgia and Florida.

Carolyn was loved dearly for her steady presence, her gentle humor, and the countless ways she showed her love for those around her. We are deeply grateful to her primary caregiver, Mrs. Sandra Kelley as she cared for Carolyn and showed such gentle kindness and love.

We would like to thank Brightmoor Hospice for helping us through her final days, providing such warm, gentle and professional guidance.

Arrangements are entrusted to A.S. Turner Funeral Home in Decatur, GA. The family welcomes condolences and further service details at www.asturner.com
