Catherine T. Draper

Catherine "Cathy" Treadwell Draper, born September 19, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, died on June 27, 2026 in Social Circle, Ga. She was an Avondale High School graduate and attended the University of Georgia. Cheering for the State Champion Avondale Blue Devils was one of her fondest memories and her spirit and love for the Bulldogs remained with her throughout her life. Cathy had a warm, welcoming way of connecting with others-she never met a stranger and truly enjoyed conversation. She was deeply interested in history, genealogy, and she brought that same thoughtful curiosity to her love of historic architecture and the beauty she created through decorating.

A Christian, Cathy lived her faith with kindness and integrity, and she was known for the genuineness she brought to every relationship. She will be remembered for her love of people, her engaging stories, and her steady presence in the lives of those around her. She truly, never met a stranger.

Cathy is survived by her son, Chad Draper, and her daughter-in-law, Lindsay Draper. Her nieces are Dana Jenkins Herndon (Gary) and Ellen Bradbury Piquette (Michael). She had one nephew, Scott Bernard Jenkins (Ashleigh). Her lifelong best friend, Sally Braswell Giezentanner. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Jackson "BJ" Treadwell; her mother, Edna Comer Treadwell; her sister, Carol Treadwell Bradbury; and her sister, Susan Treadwell Jenkins.

A burial service will be held on July 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery.
