Celestia Louise Wright

August 22, 1943 — July 13, 2023

Celestia Louise Wright, a woman of remarkable resilience and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2023. Born on August 22, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Gainesville, Florida where she was a beacon of love and kindness that radiated warmth to those around her. She lived 53 of her years in the small town of Clarkston, Georgia, where her spirit continued to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to cross her path.

Celestia, a proud graduate of Gainesville High School, Class of 1962, was a lifelong learner who believed in the power of education. She carried this philosophy into her professional life, serving with dedication and compassion as a Clinical Supervisor and Administrative Assistant for the DeKalb County Board of Health. Celestia's commitment to her work was a testament to her belief in service to others, and she left a lasting legacy on the countless lives she touched.

In her personal life, Celestia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Bobby Lee Wright. Her love story with Bobby was one for the ages, filled with laughter, shared adventures, and enduring love. Celestia is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Lorraine Wright and Deborah Leigh Reeves and her husband Allen. She was the proud grandmother to Austin William Reeves and his wife Chelsea, Brianna Leigh Harper and her husband Bobby, and Braden Wade Reeves. Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy lives on through them.

Celestia's interests painted a picture of a woman deeply connected to her community and her faith. At Smoke Rise Baptist Church, she found solace and joy while singing old hymns that pronounced her love for her Savoir. She loved spending time with her friends, making each moment count, and was a proud member of the American Legion of Avondale. Whether she was traveling with her family, playing a game of bingo, or spending time with her beloved dog Buster, she lived her life to the fullest, embracing every opportunity for joy.

Celestia found friends in every stage of her life, collecting them like treasures. She kept them close in the way she intentionally cared for them over the years. Her love for life and others was contagious, and she had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved.

Celestia's greatest gift was her love for her family. She was passionate about spending time with those she loved. One of her greatest joys was spending time in Sanibel Island with Bobby, her daughters and grandchildren. During these times together she was always known for sharing the many stories of her life. Most of these stories were about the love she shared with Bobby and her faith in Jesus Christ. Although in her life she faced many hardships, she always trusted that her Savoir would give her strength to overcome any hurdle she faced. Many of her circumstances could have led to bitterness but she chose to be a lady everyone loved and admired.

To describe Celestia as loving, kind, and faith-filled would be an understatement. She was a beacon of positivity, spreading light and love wherever she went. Her kindness was not an act, but a lifestyle and a reflection of her deep faith and love for humanity. She was a woman who saw the best in others and helped them see it in themselves. Her life will be a beacon, guiding us to live with kindness, love, and faith. We will always remember her laughter, her wisdom, and her unwavering faith. In the days to come we will remember her as she was - a woman of immeasurable strength, boundless love, and unshakable faith.

Celestia Louise Wright, a woman of faith and kindness, has left us physically, but her spirit, her legacy, and her love will forever remain in our hearts. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate her life, a life lived with purpose, grace, and an outpouring of love. Let us strive to live as she did, with kindness in our hearts, faith as our guide, and love as our mantra. Rest in peace, dear Celestia, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
