Charles Olin Arledge, better known as Charlie to his family and many friends, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Friday, November 18, 2022, after a long illness. He was 84 years old. Charlie grew up in midtown Atlanta and graduated from Grady High School in 1956. He attended Georgia Tech and received a degree from Southern Tech while working for the Georgia Power Company, where he was employed for 35 years. Upon his retirement he held leadership positions with Georgia Power’s retiree organization, The Ambassadors. Charlie was a man of many varied interests and talents, especially ham radio. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanine Cummings Arledge, the love of his life; a brother, Guy Arledge; his sister, Anne Amonds; his brother-in-law, J. D. Cummings; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved Uncle Charlie very much. Visitation is scheduled at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur, Georgia, on Wednesday, November 23, between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, with a memorial service set at Turner’s on Friday, November 25, at 1:00 PM.
