Cicely Ivy Ashby

Cicely Ivy Ashby died Monday, August 9, 2010.  She was a native of Barbados. She retired from the New York City School System after serving as a teacher at PS 44.  She held a masters degree in education. Survivors include her daughters, Gina Blackett and her husband, Floyd and Karen Ashby; son, Shawn Ashby and his wife, Brenda Lee; sister, Gloria Pestaina; brother, Keith Ashby; grandchildren, David Steers, Leticia Donegan, Alyssa Ashby and Jeremy Ashby; and great grandchildren, Davaian Steers and Zion McCourty. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Shawn Ashby officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 - 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home. After the service a reception will be held in room 3.  Cicely's remains will be taken to Barbados.
