Listen to Obituary

Diane Wegener Rosenzweig, 86, of Decatur, GA was born in Manhattan, New York to the late Herbert and Anna Wegener. Diane died peacefully in her home in Decatur, GA on June 19th, 2025, three years after losing her beloved husband David. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She grew up in White Plains, NY and in the seventh grade she met her future husband of over 58 years, David, who was friends with her twin brother, Herb. After graduating from the University of Michigan, earning a degree in Math (M Go Blue!), she married David. She became a high school math teacher at White Plains High School and continued as a beloved middle and high school math teacher in several different school systems throughout the country for more than three decades. Despite suffering years of rheumatoid arthritis that particularly affected her hands, Diane was a talented artist in many mediums, including, but not limited to, painting and quilting. She enjoyed learning and teaching art history, and incorporated her love of color, particularly orange, into her decorating choices (her houses always had orange front doors). An avid reader, throughout Diane's life she was a staunch supporter of equal rights, civil rights, and racial justice.

She is survived by her son Robert Rosenzweig (Eve), daughter Darlene Kitterman (Joe), grandsons Joshua Kitterman and Patrick Rosenzweig, her brother Herb Wegener (Marion), and her nieces and nephews.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Dekalb Library Foundation (https://foundation.dekalblibrary.org/).

There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
