Obituary for
Doris Fowler Price
Doris Fowler Price of Avondale Estates, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 105. She was born on August 22, 1920, in a small town in Meriwether County, Georgia, to the late Will Oscar and Pearl Fowler.
Doris met the love of her life, Hugh, while attending Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. They were married on December 4, 1944, and shared 68 wonderful years of marriage together.
She attended Georgia State College for Women and taught school for one year in Albany, Georgia. Doris completed her education at the University of Georgia in June 1944 and thereafter worked for the Farm Security Administration. She devoted her life to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother while raising four children at home-a role she embraced with grace and dedication.
Cooking was her specialty, and there was rarely a meal without fresh vegetables from her garden on the table. She also had a wonderful talent for sewing, creating outfits for her daughter, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren that will be cherished for generations.
Doris was a woman of deep faith and dedicated her life to Christ. She worshiped at Westminster Presbyterian Church from the 1970s onward and loved celebrating her faith with family and friends. Romans chapter 8 reflects her favorite Bible story, Life through the Sprit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her four children: Doris Price Cannon and husband Jerry; Hugh A. Price III and wife Cheryl; William P. Price and wife Jan; and Charles R. Price and wife Denise. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kevin V. Cannon, Christy S. Cannon, Lara P. Collins, Karen P. Stapp, Jennifer P. Green, David M. Price, and Katherine E. Price, along with ten great-grandchildren and a niece Carol Fowler DeShields. All of whom she loved deeply and influenced profoundly
A private grave side service for the family will be held in Milledgeville, Georgia on December 31, 2025. A memorial service for Doris will be held at 2pm on January 2, 2026.
