Douglas George Gosa

Douglas George Gosa, age 72, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his home. A native of Spalding County, GA, he was a son of the late Sam Ethron and Mattie Mae Smith Gosa, devoted husband of 34 years to Maria Julian Gosa. George was a man of many talents and passions. He was a hero to many and a handsome prince to Maria. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Georganna Marie McDonald of Braxton, MS, Emma Noelle Gosa of Decatur, GA; his children with Barbara Smith, Stephen Gosa of Buford, GA, Tina Averette of Covington, GA; brothers Sam Gosa of Blairsville, GA, Billy Joe Gosa of Marietta, GA; sisters, Betty Guard of Kennesaw, GA, Jeanette Hill of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, Jenna Rae Gosa, Leah Shea Zavadil, Stephen Chase Gosa, Brandie Hand, Branden Smith, Thomas Patterson and Havana McDonald; great grandchildren, Austin, Dalton and Katelynn; his mother-in-law Emma whom he loved just like she was his own; many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice. A service celebrating Doug's life will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Son at 1:00 pm, Wednesday January 21 with Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to service time at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
