Edna Stephens

Edna Stephens passed away peacefully at her home in Clarkston, Georgia on Friday November 21, 2025. Edna was an avid reader and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe & South America. Edna was born in Snow Hill, Tennessee to father William Jackson Friddell & mother Nellie Mae Lee Friddell. She spent her youth in Ooltewah, Tennessee. For the last 55 years of her life she lived in Clarkston, Georgia where she was a longtime member of Clarkston International Bible Church. She attended The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University formerly known as Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Edna is survived by her daughter Renee Baskett (Larry), son Keith Austin (Lisa), stepdaughter Jean McGriff (Danny), stepson Jerry Stephens (Janey), grandchildren Kenny Baskett, Michael Baskett, Brandon Austin, Ryan Austin, Jason Laughlin, Amber Hightower, Greg McGriff, Jason McGriff, Jeff Stephens, & Lisa Rahn. She is also survived by several great & great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepson Kenny Stephens & step grandson Joe Stephens.

Edna will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Gerald Stephens in Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain, Georgia. She will have a private graveside service for family with her grandson Brandon Austin (accomplished trumpeter) playing.
