ELIAS (LEE} LAMPIRIS, 83, of Tucker, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026. He was born on January 29, 1943 in Cor'ona, NY to Konios (Gus) Lampiris and Pauline (Konios} Lampiris.
Lee graduated in 1965, from TriState College (Trine University}, Angola, IN, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In his early career, he worked as an engineer constructing Firestone tire factories in Greece. Following an MBA from Carnegie Mellon, Lee taught in the MBA program, then consulted with hospitals across the country. He retired in 2021, from Philips Corporation.
Lee's career as an executive and healthcare consultant spanned six decades, including assignments domestically and overseas. While wrapping up his career at Philips Healthcare, Lee won the prestigious Philips Pinnacle Award for outstanding achievement. His even temperament, sense of humor and analytical approach to problem solving endeared Lee to clients and colleagues alike. He left an indelible impression on all who were privileged to work with him.
Lee was passionate about WWII history, visited Normandy several times and many battle locations. At the age of 80, Lee earned his Black Belt in karate which was presented to him in Japan. Lee completed his Second Degree Black Belt and was currently working on his Third Degree Black Belt. He was a student of Japanese and Greek languages. He traveled extensively. At The DoJo American Karate Centers, Lee was a mentor to the students, many who called him "grandpa".
Lee was inspired by Tim Foley and donated his time, treasure and talents to participate in annual Habitat for Humanity International trips to Guatemala. For over 11 years, Lee traveled to different regions of Guatemala and helped build homes for those without one. In total, his team built 100 block homes. He worked tirelessly in the heat of summer yet always made time to have fun with people who attended these trips. Lee would play guitar with members of the team. He also enjoyed visiting local attractions like Antigua and Lake Atitlan.
Lee played guitar in a college band and wanted to become a professional musician. He especially loved music by Eric Clapton and the Beatles. Guitar teacher, Billy McCullough, said, "From the beginning of lessons in 2013, Lee developed his repertoire and consistently strove to learn music theory". Cousin Lee remembers Lee teaching him to play "Johnny Be Goode'', a rite-of-passage for any aspiring Rock and Roll player. "Lee helped shape me as a guitarist".
Leeis survived by his wife, Sandi (Duncan) Lampiris; stepsons Ryan and Rodney Folkening, Grand Rapids, Ml; sister-in-law, Lisa Carpenter, Traverse City, Ml; brother-in-law, Steve Duncan, (Diane); grandchildren, Mia, Noah, Levi Folkening; cousins Lee Papadimitriou and George Pandelakis(Laurie), New York City; nieces, nephews and several relatives in Greece
