Elizabeth Causey Alexander Bucko, known to all as Liz, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on August 20, 1968, in Augusta, Georgia, Liz was a vibrant spirit who brought joy, wisdom, humor, and a sense of adventure to all those who were fortunate to know her.
Liz was the beloved wife of Christopher Peter Bucko and the devoted mother of daughters Delilah Jane and Mary Evans. Her unwavering love and support for her family served as the cornerstone of their lives. She is also survived by her mother Delilah Baxter Alexander, sister Julie (Charles) Davis, brother Causey (Michele) Alexander, brother-in-law Mark (Jodi) Bucko, mother-in-law Theresa (David Neitzel) Bucko, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 1 great-niece and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Hugh Causey Alexander Jr.
Liz was graduate of Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia and an alumna of the University of West Georgia, where she earned an accounting degree. Over her career, Liz worked in Product Manager and Director positions at Ernst & Young, Ceridian, Ultimate Software, and Oracle. She worked most recently as the Senior Director of Product Compliance with Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG). Liz loved her job and was known for her attention to detail and commitment to her work.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Liz was a woman of diverse interests and passions. She loved using her sewing skills to make her home more beautiful and also loved using her passions to make gifts for others. Liz was an avid reader, often passing books on to friends to read. Her joy of cooking filled her home with love and brought her family together around the dining table. Liz was also a world traveler who enjoyed exploring new places, and traveling with friends and family.
Liz was committed to serving her community, frequently volunteering her time and resources to various local causes including St. Thomas More Church and School, Marist School, The High Museum of Art, The Girl Scouts, Hagar's House, and The Atlanta Food Bank among others. Her kindness and generosity were evident in all she did, and she touched many lives through her selfless acts of service.
Liz found friends and community in every stage of her life, collecting them like treasures. She has kept them close in the ways she intentionally cared for them over the years. Her love for life was contagious, and she had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved. Her hospitality was unrivaled.
We mourn the loss of Liz, but we also celebrate her life and the countless ways she enriched our lives. Her spirit will live on in the memories we cherish, the lessons we learned from her, and the love she shared with us all. Elizabeth Causey Alexander Bucko, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, will be deeply missed, but her impact and influence will forever be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent dePaul, St. Thomas More Catholic School, or a charity of your own choosing.
Visitation will be held on A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday July 16th from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church on Monday July 17th at 10:30 am, with a reception to follow in Mulhern Hall.
