Esther Benitez Domingo December 23, 1923 - January 17, 2025

Esther was born in Havana, Cuba on December 23, 1923. She passed to her heavenly home on January 17, 2025. Daughter of Bartolo Benitez Melo from Spain and Francisca Padron Benitez from Cuba. A happy child and young woman with 4 siblings, she was the only one to reach the remarkable age of - 101 YEARS OLD ! She studied at private schools and completed her studies in Havana.

On December 4, 1949, she married Silverio Domingo. Their marriage has been an example of love, commitment, and dedication that lasted 75 years ! God blessed them with their two children Norberto and Esther.

In 1961, facing political repression and economic hardship in Cuba, the family immigrated to the United States, settling first in Miami, Florida, where they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In March 1964, Second- Ponce de Leon Baptist Church sponsored the family to Atlanta where they began the Spanish ministry. Weeks later, Esther was baptized by Dr. Monroe F. Swilley, beloved pastor of Second-Ponce de Leon at that time.

In this church, she began her ministry teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and leading as president of the Women's Missionary Union. She worked as a caterer hosting weddings and various events - always serving God by helping anyone in need.

In 1978, she joined First Hispanic Baptist Church where she served in transportation, recreation, and director of the Women's Missionary Union.

From 1986 - 2000, they were the Pastoral family of Second-Ponce de Leon Spanish Mission. Being his suitable companion, she supported him in his commitment to serve God in the pastoral ministry, accepting the position with gratitude and joy. She prayed that God would give her wisdom to be a pastor's wife.

From 1990-1998, she worked in the Mother's Day-Out program, where she was loved and respected by administrators, co-workers, parents, and children.

In 2000, the Spanish Mission relocated to Clairmont Baptist Church and was renamed Iglesia Bautista Vida Abundante. She served faithfully until her advanced age and failing health no longer allowed. She always took joy in counseling, encouraging, and sharing the love of Christ

through word and deed. Her life was guided by her favorite Bible passages: Psalm 23; Isaiah 40: 30-31; Isaiah 41: 10, 13.

We are left with the memory of a joyful woman, a faithful Christian, and a soul-winner. She served her God for 60 years. A virtuous woman and exemplary mother for her family, who left an incomparable legacy of faith and hope in God. A pastor's wife for 31 years, and loved by all regardless of age.

Those of us who had the privilege of sharing her precious long life will always remember her. Thank you Lord, for Esther's life, we will see her again in heaven! "Well done, good and faithful servant, you have entered into the joy of your Lord!"

She is survived by her husband of 75 years Silverio, her children Norberto and Esther, her grandson Paul and many nieces and nephews in Atlanta and Miami, Florida.

Esther nacio en La Habana, Cuba el 23 de Diciembre de 1923. Paso a su hogar celestial el 17 de Enero de 2025. Hija de padre español, Bartolo Benitez Melo y madre cubana, Francisca Padron Benitez. Niña y joven feliz con sus 4 hermanos, fue ella la unica que llego a tan avanzada edad - 101 AÑOS !

Estudio enseñanzas en colegios privados y el bachillerato en la Habana.

En Diciembre 4, 1949 contrajo matrimonio con Silverio Domingo, siendo ambos un ejemplo de amor, compromiso y dedicacion que duro 75 años. Dios los bendijo con sus dos hijos Norberto y Esther.

En 1961, la represion política y dificultades economicas de Cuba, forzaron a la familia emigrar a los Estados Unidos, estableciéndose primero en Miami, Florida donde aceptaron a Jesucristo como su Señor y Salvador.

En Marzo 1964, la iglesia bautista Second-Ponce de Leon los patrocinó para Atlanta, donde comensaron la obra hispana. Pocas semanas después, Esther fue bautizada por el pastor Dr. Monroe F. Swilley de la iglesia Americana.

En esta iglesia, empezo su ministerio enseñando en la Escuela Dominical, cantando en el coro, y liderando como presidenta de la Unión Femenil Misionera. Trabajo como proveedora de banquetes para bodas, y diferentes eventos. Siempre sirvio a su Dios ayudando a cualquier persona en necesidad.

En 1978, se unio a la Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana donde sirvio en los ministerios de transporte, recreacion, y directora de la Union Femenil Misionera.

Desde 1986 -2000 fueron la familia Pastoral de la Second-Ponce de Leon Mision Hispana. Ademas de ser la ayuda idonea de su esposo, le apoyo en el deseo de servir a Dios en el ministerio Pastoral, aceptando el cargo con gratitud y gozo. Siempre oraba que Dios le diera la sabiduria para ser la esposa del pastor.

Desde 1990-1998, trabajo en el programa de Mother's Day Out, donde fue amada y respetada por muchos administradores, compañeros de trabajo, padres y niños.

En el año 2000, la Mision Hispana se relocalizo a la Iglesia Bautista Clairmont donde fue renombrada Iglesia Bautista Vida Abundante. Sirvio fielmente hasta que su avanzada edad y salud quebrantada se lo impidieron. Siempre se gozaba en aconsejar, animar y compartio el amor de Cristo con palabras y acciones. Su vida fue guiada por sus pasajes biblicos favoritos: Salmo 23; Isaias 40: 30-31; Isaias 41: 10, 13.

Nos queda el recuerdo de una mujer alegre, cristiana fiel, ganadora de almas. Sirvio a su Dios por 60 años. Ha dejado una huella como mujer virtuosa y madre ejemplar para su familia. Una herencia incomparable de fe y esperanza en Dios. Esposa de pastor por 31 años, amadora de la verdad y rectitud. Amada por todos sin importar la edad.

La recordaremos siempre los que tuvimos el privilegio de compartir su preciosa larga vida con ella. Gracias Señor por la vida de Esther, la veremos de nuevo en el cielo ! "Bien, buen sierva y fiel, entraste en el gozo de tu Señor !"

Le sobreviven su esposo Silverio de 75 años casado, sus hijos Norberto y Esther, su nieto Paul y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas en Atlanta, y Miami, Florida.
