Flynn Wilford Warren, Jr.

Flynn Wilford Warren, Jr. passed away on August 1st, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born January 2nd, 1941, in Mount Holly, North Carolina, to parents Flynn Wilford Warren, Sr. and Mary Dunn Warren. The 'genius' of Mount Holly, Flynn finished Mount Holly high school in North Carolina one year early and enrolled at Belmont Abbey College where he was MVP of the golf team two years in a row. He went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina and then earned his Master's in Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia.

Flynn was a member of the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy faculty for 33 years, retiring in 2007 as Clinical Professor and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. He was a favorite of students, teaching 3-day board reviews courses in preparation for the pharmacy licensing exam in Georgia and various other locations in the Southeastern United States.

A lover of adventure, Flynn also delighted in serving as Head of Pharmacy Services at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 1977 to 1985. He was the Master Desert Camping Guide, planning all family excursions to explore the deserts, mountains, and sites of the Arabian Peninsula. His time in Saudi Arabia gave him and his family a multitude of unique experiences, a broader view upon the world, and many long-lasting friendships.

A kind, loving and generous man, Flynn helped anyone in need. He was often the first to volunteer and participated fully in all organizations of which he was a part, serving on multiple state and local commissions and boards since 1985. He was elected President of the Georgia Pharmacy Association in 2003 and served on the Board of Directors of both the Georgia Pharmacy Foundation and the International Association of Torch Clubs. He co-authored two books, seven book chapters, 53 publications, and was the recipient of numerous golf, teaching, and service awards over the years. Flynn was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Anna's Catholic Church in Monroe, GA, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, GA. He loved serving as a Eucharistic Minister, taking communion to patients in Emory's hospital, as well as serving as a lector, altar server, usher, and anything else that was needed during mass. He also loved UGA football and had a soft spot for animals, especially his many cats, all of whom he spoiled shamelessly.

A very beloved brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, Flynn is succeeded in life by his wife, Monica Bonnie McCarthy Ali Warren of Decatur, GA, his sons James Parks Warren III (Susan) of Newnan, GA and Stephen Gregory Arthur Warren of Surfside Beach, SC, grandsons Mackenzie McQuaig Warren and James Parks Warren IV, stepchildren Nadia Ali (Brian Wilson) and Khaled Ali (Monlee Quach), and grandchildren Nora Wilson, Sara Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Patrick Wilson, Sami Kai Ali, and Ronan Ali. He is also survived by his sister Mary (Mimi) Warren Miller of Natchez, MS, niece Sarah Gray Miller, and nephew Webster Warren Miller (Ashley).

A memorial mass will be held Saturday, August 16th, at 11 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 636 W. Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA 30030. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made via a special giving page in his memory to the College of Pharmacy Student Emergency Fund at the University of Georgia.
