Frances Mae Jenkins

Frances Merritt Jenkins, 94, passed away on Saturday January 14, 2012. A native of DeKalb County and long time resident of Decatur, she was preceded in death by her husband, Euvis P. Jenkins, brother, James Merritt and sisters, Allene Austin and Ruth Owens. She is survived by her three sons and their families, Preston & Linda Jenkins, Conyers; Gilbert & Margaret Jenkins, Covington; Tim Jenkins and Peter Joyce, Chicago, IL; sisters, Dorothy Brown and Peggy Ivey, both of Stone Mountain; Olivia Fowler, Decatur; and Betty Wilson, Lithonia. Also surviving are three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker for many years who later held various jobs including working for Zoo Atlanta for more than 20 years, retiring at the age of 87. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, or Zoo Atlanta. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons on Tuesday January 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm with interment in Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons
