We regret to announce the passing of Frank E. Nix, Jr. on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Frank has suffered with Congestive Heart Failure for several years. After a massive stroke on Tuesday evening, he passed peacefully very early Thursday morning.
Frank, also known as "Little Gene", was born at home in Buford, Ga on August 8, 1937.
He grew up living mostly between Atlanta and Buford but moved to Perry during his high school years.
Frank graduated from Georgia Tech in 1960 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His 4 years of ROTC required 2 years service time which he began in 1961. He served at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama as an instructor in the Ordinance Guided Missile School. After a short stint working in Lousiana at Schlumberger Oil Well Surveying Corp, he was hired by Georgia Power in Atlanta, from which he retired in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Anne Thomason Nix: surviving are his sons John Alan Nix and David Charles Nix and their families.
Frank served at Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta for many years as an usher and elder alongside his wife Charlotte who served in the choir for 42 years! Together they enjoyed traveling, camping and attending bluegrass and gospel music events. They volunteered as ushers at 3 theaters in Atlanta for many years where they were able to enjoy a large variety of performances.
John and David and their families provided Frank and Charlotte with 5 grandchildren who they loved, and enjoyed watching their sporting events and spending time with when possible.
Frank spent the last 2 1/2 years of his life without Charlotte living very comfortably at an assisted living facility near David and his family. He was the big man on campus among the ladies. He was the only man who enjoyed the field trips to different restaurants, plays and events on a bus with 12 ladies. Often he would treat everyone to lunch or at least an ice cream on the way home!
We are at peace and blessed to know that Frank is with Jesus and reunited with Charlotte.
