Garland "Gene" Phillips

Mr. Garland "Gene" Phillips of Snellville died Thursday, December 20, 2007 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.  He was a printer by trade, and was employed with Digital Xpress.  He was an ordained Baptist Minister and member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta.  Mr. Phillips was a U. S. Marine and served in Vietnam.  He was preceded in death by his father Ruben Phillips; his siblings, Bobby Phillips, Betty Goode, and Terry Phillips.  He is survived by his wife, Cheryl ; daughter, Corrie Haislip and her husband Kristopher, and their children Taber and Kade of Stone Mountain; son, Linton Phillips and wife Heather, and their children Austen, Ashley and Megan of Midland, MI; mother, Vivian Phillips; siblings, Joan Sanford, Emma Hicks, Judy Henry, and Ronnie Phillips; mother-in-law, Joy Schultz; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, December 26th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons.  Interment Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday and from 11:00 A.M. to 12 Noon Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
