Gaynell Kendall

Gaynell Brown Kendall, 84 years of age, passed peacefully in her home on Easter, Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Gaynell was born December 12, 1939 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late John Jackson and Christine Brown. She was the oldest daughter of five siblings. She had two sisters, Gerturde Slappey and Patricia Kirksey, and two brothers, Henry Louis Brown and Jackson Lavaughn Brown. All of whom preceded her in death.

Gaynell married the late Zack Taylor Kendall, Sr. in 1964. They were married for 53 years until his passing in September 2017.

Gaynell was a devout Christian and had a strong faith in God's love. She was an active member of her church. Gaynell enjoyed being outside and was an enthusiastic gardener. Her yard is a collection of plants curated from friends and family. Gaynell was an avid walker, walking down her beloved Patterson Ave only a few hours before she passed. She enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and visiting with her neighbors. She could tell the story of each house and family in the Mill Village.

Gaynell leaves behind two children, Teresa and Zack Kendall; two grandchildren, Nikita and Zack Taylor Kendall III; a daughter-in-law, Oksana Kendall; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024. A Memorial Service will be at 3 pm in the chapel of AS Turner Funeral Home.
