Gerald Mcclellan

Mr. Gerald McClellan, 79, of Stone Mountain, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2012. He was a loving husband of 57 years to Gail Garner McClellan. He is also survived by his four children, Carol Mentzer and son-in-law Greg of Hamilton, VA, Anna Tankersley of Covington, Gerry McClellan and daughter-in-law Kathy of Covington, Katie Robinson and son-in-law Joe of Stone Mountain.
He was a very special Papa to eight grandkids and five great-grands with one more on the way. Jason Heath, his wife Kristy, and their three daughters Joely, Lauryn, and McKenzie, and daughter #4 due in September. Lynn Tankersley and her two sons Chad and Blayne. Michael Tankersley and his wife Telisa. Allison and Heather McClellan. Candace, Aaron, and Lillie Robinson.
Gerald was born and raised in Commerce, GA, and met Gail when he was at UGA in Athens. After they married in 1954, they moved to Atlanta, where he transferred to the Atlanta campus of UGA. He graduated in the first class of what became Georgia State University. He enjoyed a long career in Accounting with Coca-Cola USA, retiring at age 55 as Administrative Manager of Finance.
He began his second career as a dedicated Papa to a loving and growing family. He was a long time member of Holy Trinity Parish in Decatur, and also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, painting, exercising, and loved UGA football and all things Coca-Cola. Gerald was friendly and outgoing and never met a stranger. His sense of humor always brought a smile to everyone around him.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Parish on Wednesday, May 16 at 2pm. Sprinkling of ashes in the Holy Trinity Memorial Garden and reception directly following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Holy Trinity Parish, 515 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030. A.S. Turner & Sons.
