Gillis Ansel Spear

Mr. Gillis Ansel Spear, 91, of Philips Tower in Decatur died Saturday, July 23, 2005. He was born in Columbus, GA but lived most of his life in the Atlanta area. Mr. Spear worked for Western Union for many years, formerly managed the Candler Hotel in Decatur, and had been a bookkeeper for Hood Oil Co. Survivors include stepdaughter, Mrs. V. L. James of Aberdeen, MS; and nephews, Burt Vardeman of Atlanta and Johnny Vardeman of Gainesville. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31st at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
