Gladys M. Montiel

Gladys M. Montiel, age 72 of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on August 23, 2022. Gladys was a loving wife who will be greatly missed. She was an animal lover, and was a great help to other family members, as well as friends and others, including animals in times of need. Gladys really enjoyed genealogy, gardening and DYI projects, most of all working on the home on Cape San Blas, Florida, which was also hers and her husband’s favorite destination.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jorge E. Iglesias, her sister in Cuba, Daisy Montiel Miralles from Camaguey; her niece, Maria Cristina, from Camaguey, Cuba; Herrera Montiel; nephew, Manuel Antonio Herrera Montiel from San Diego, California, and many cousins. Her cousins from Florida are Alejandra M. Ortiz-Escandell and family, Consuelo Escandell Gil and family, Marco A. Escandell Gil and family, Marisabel Escandell Alvarez and child, Asela M. Camacho Escandell and Olga Cao; Lazaro Escandel Fernandez and family. In Missouri her cousins are Rosa Maria Camacho and family and her godson, Rolando Gonzalez-Ortiz, lives in Havana, Cuba. From her husband’s family in Georgia, surviving cousins are Ileana Seoane McCaigue, Vivian Seoane Gammell and Phillip Gammell. In Florida surviving members are David Ryan McCaigue and family, and his goddaughter resides in California.

Services will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with a reception from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends before the viewing and visitation from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A memorial service will be held September 3, 2022, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and/or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Gladys M. Montiel. Gladys loved children and was very passionate about these organizations that served to better the health of children in need.
