Gloria Anna Bennett Smith

Gloria Bennett Smith, aged 93, passed away on Monday evening, December 31, 2018 in her home in Decatur. She was born in Atlanta, on Aug. 25, 1925. She graduated from Girls’ High School and worked for Bell South.

In 1948, she married Tommy Smith and they continued to live in Atlanta. In 1962, they built a home in DeKalb County and lived there for the remainder of their lives. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Smith and her sister, Elizabeth Bennett Grayson.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Smith and his wife, Ellen and her son, Gary Smith and his wife, Vicki as well as her six grandchildren, Rebecca Plyler, Preston Smith, Miranda Cearley, Andrew Smith, Nathan Smith, and Anna Hansen. She also had six great grandchildren.

The family would like to express our appreciation to Ethel Fabre for her kind and tireless care as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for their help and care.

There will be a family graveside service on Friday January 4th at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday January 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home.
