Harry Lockwood

Harry Lockwood, 87, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. A native of Atlanta, he was born on July 19, 1937, to Joseph Lockwood and Mary McDaniel Lockwood and grew up in Little Five Points. Harry graduated from Bass High School in 1955 where he was a City League All-Star in basketball and baseball. He went on to earn a mechanical engineering Professional degree from Southern Technical Institute before starting his career as a Mechanical Engineer at Newcomb & Boyd. He joined Brady & Anglin Consulting Engineers in 1978 and retired as part owner/Executive Vice President in 2003. Licensed in more than ten states, Harry continued to consult and kept his licenses current into his eighties.

Harry was a member of Druid Hills Golf Club for more than 55 years where he played golf with his friends every Saturday. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Alice (Dianne) Lockwood, brother, Joseph E. Lockwood, Jr., daughter, Mary Lockwood Regas, son-in-law, Michael Regas, and adoring grandchildren, Joseph Patton Regas and Mary Isabelle Regas (Issy).

Harry loved his family dearly and was immensely proud and embraced his role as Granddaddy to Joe and Issy. He was actively involved in their lives and cherished the special relationships he had with them both.

A memorial service will be held at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 12:30 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately afterwards at Highland Tap, Harry's favorite place, 1026 North Highland Avenue, Atlanta, GA,30306. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a contribution in Harry Lockwood's name to a nonprofit educational fund dear to the family's heart: The Liza and Edie Burke Educational Fund.
