Helen Christine Porter Adams, 79, of Stone Mountain, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully on May 13, 2026 , after a courageous battle with cancer. She will always be remembered for her deep love of family, her strong faith, and the joy she found in sharing stories, laughter, and time with those she cherished most.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 43 years, Bob, of Gainesville, who passed away in 2010. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. She was also predeceased by her brother, Bill, of Canton, in 2024.
She is survived by her son, Robert, of Los Angeles; her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Anthony, of Huntsville; her granddaughter, Alecia, of Appling; and her four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Marie and Pat, of Canton, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A woman of sincere and abiding faith, she was a member of Pine Lake Baptist Church and The River Church at Valley Brook. She found comfort and meaning in her Bible studies and singing in the Hi-Lo's Adult Choir. She lived her faith through kindness, generosity, and her love for others.
She enjoyed visiting with friends, sharing stories, and watching British crime television. She was known for her beautifully crocheted hanging towels she lovingly gave to others.
The viewing will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 4pm to 6pm, and the funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 17, at 1pm at Turner and Sons in Decatur. A graveside service will follow in Gainesville at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Her family will forever cherish her love, her stories, and the many ways she made those around her feel cared for and remembered.
