Helen Rae Brown

June 7, 1943 — March 18, 2024

Helen Rae Brown, a beacon of creativity and joy, passed away at the age of 80 on March 18, 2024, due to natural causes in Decatur, Georgia. Helen, born on June 7, 1943, in Williamson, West Virginia, lived a vibrant life that was as colorful and beautifully arranged as the spaces she designed.

Helen was a luminary in the world of interior design, having honed her craft at Georgia State University. Her eye for elegance and functionality led her to design numerous homes throughout Atlanta, earning her the prestigious opportunity to design the residence of the president of Georgia Tech and to work on the splendid Calloway Gardens. Her remarkable talent was recognized in Atlanta design magazines, where at least two of her projects were featured, showcasing her ability to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary sanctuaries.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Helen's zest for life was evident through her passion for dance. A master of the tango, she was an active and cherished member of two social and dance clubs, Serendipity and Black Tie. Her grace on the dance floor was matched only by her warmth and generosity of spirit, which made her a beloved figure in her community.

Her creativity, passion, and dedication to her craft and to her loved ones will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Helen Rae Brown lived a life full of beauty, movement, and love, leaving an indelible mark on the world that will not soon be forgotten.
