Hiram Chism Allen, III (Hikie) passed away on October 16, 2025 from complications from a stroke. He was just three days shy of turning 95.

Hikie was born in Decatur, Georgia, attended Decatur Boys High, followed by getting his textile engineering degree at Georgia Tech. While at Tech, he joined the Chi Phi Fraternity and served as the football team manager under coach Bobby Dodd. In later years he was elected to the Georgia Tech Football Hall of Fame for his service.

After a brief stint in the Navy, he became a textile salesman for The Graniteville Company which became his lifelong career. He married Elizabeth Sanders (Betty) and had three children.

Hikie served on the Board of Presbyterian College, the Board of Trustees for Presbyterian Homes, and was President of the Textile Club for a term. He was very active with Decatur Presbyterian Church, frequently serving as an Elder.

He is survived by his three children: Peggy Swearingen, Sandy Allen, Hikie Allen IV, and their families which include four grandchildren and a great granddaughter. He is also survived by two sisters: Sidney Murphy and Susie Wood. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Decatur Presbyterian Church. The family will have a graveside service on Monday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Decatur Cemetery and are planning a memorial service for both Betty and Hikie in November.
