Ian Calvin Hicks
November 23, 1967 - September 18, 2025
Ian Calvin Hicks passed away on September 18, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished
memories.
He was the beloved son of Lamona Gail Gilbert-Christy and the late Calvin Leonard Hicks, and
the devoted brother of Sammye Dawn Hicks-Opela. Ian is also survived by many cousins,
nieces, nephews, and dear lifelong friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
A proud graduate of Prague High School in Prague, Oklahoma, Ian served as the spirited Prague
Red Devil mascot and played in the marching band. After graduation he worked and attended
college before moving to Arizona to begin a career in telecommunications. His talent and
curiosity soon carried him to California and Colorado, and eventually to Atlanta, Georgia, where
he built a warm, close-knit circle of neighbors and friends he considered family.
Ian's adventurous spirit and love of travel took him across the globe. He especially enjoyed
cruises, reunions with longtime friends, and the simple joy of fishing while living for a time in
the Florida Keys.
Of all his journeys, his greatest love was for his dogs-especially the Basset Hounds he rescued,
who brought him endless companionship and joy.
Ian's life was filled with laughter, friendship, and discovery. His generous heart and adventurous
soul will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
