James Douglas "Doug" Almand, a kind and selfless individual, passed away on March 29, 2024 in Temple, GA after a brief and sudden illness. He was born on January 19, 1951, in Atlanta, GA. Doug spent his life working as a Computer Systems Programmer for the State of Georgia, always dedicated to his work. He worked in the old Archives building in Atlanta for many years before retiring.
Those who knew Doug knew of his love for reading science fiction and playing darts. He never missed an opportunity to enjoy these hobbies in his free time. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, chosen family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping for anyone who needed one.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Margaret Almand, brother, Tim Almand and his beloved shih-tzu, Peach. He is survived by extended family members; longtime friend, Jennifer Lemons and her children, David and Madeline, who he treated like his own, along with Madeline's daughter, Emberly, who he had a special grandfatherly bond with.
