Jean Kramer Campbell

December 26, 1925 — November 9, 2023

Jean Kramer Campbell, 97, died November 9, 2023, at her home in Decatur, Georgia. She was born in Paterson, New Jersey on December 26, 1925, to parents Fred Ernest and Mary Bartels Kramer. Older siblings included Helen Sterner, Ruth Crumley and Louis Kramer. Her family moved to Dallas, Texas, when she was very young where she attended school. In Dallas, she worked at the Coca-Cola Company, where she met Lewis Campbell after he transferred from Georgia to Dallas with Coca-Cola. They married and she became a homemaker.


Jean was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband of 50 years and her son-in-law, Billy Lavigno. She is survived by her children, Jessica Lavigno, Ellen Campbell, Thomas Campbell (Cindy), Lorna Campbell, Donna Sue Campbell and Matthew Campbell. Grandchildren include Bethany Lavigno Hountz (Zach), Watson Lavigno (Shima), Tyler Campbell (Catherine), Tessa Spires (Tyler) and Olivia Campbell. She has 3 great-grandchildren.


Jean was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church and the Winsome Sunday School class. She was a charter volunteer with the Fernbank Museum. She enjoyed playing bridge. She loved her lake house and Bebe, her rescue Australian cattle dog. She could fix meals for crowds using new recipes as well as recipes handed down from generations of cooks and bakers.


Many thanks to her caregivers for their devotion and for making her home their home away from home.


Graveside service is at Decatur Cemetery on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 10:30 am.
